Natural Disasters and Bible prophecy
Watch as recent natural disasters from around the globe seem to fulfil ancient Bible prophecy. Explore powerful videos of earthquakes, floods, and storms, and discover what the Bible says about these signs of the end times.
Introduction
From raging wildfires to devastating floods, from powerful earthquakes to unprecedented storms, news headlines are increasingly filled with stories of natural disasters. For many, these events are simply tragic occurrences, a product of our natural world. But for those who study the Bible, these events hold much greater significance. Jesus himself spoke of earthquakes and famines as signs of the end of the age, likening them to the “beginning of birth pains” (Matthew 24:7-8). This page compiles powerful video evidence of recent natural disasters, inviting you to see how these events may directly relate to what was foretold in Scripture. Are we living in the last days? Please explore the evidence for yourself and make your own decision.
Earth in Chaos: What’s Going On Right Now? August 2025, part 3
This past week has seen a range of natural disasters impacting various regions globally. Landslides have caused significant casualties in Guatemala and India. Flooding has devastated parts of Pakistan, India, and China, with numerous fatalities and widespread displacement. Wildfires are raging across Southern Europe, particularly in Spain, and have been fuelled by extreme heat. Additionally, two tropical depressions have formed in the West Pacific, with one predicted to make landfall in Vietnam.
Here’s a more detailed look at some of the events:
Landslides: A landslide in Guatemala has resulted in numerous fatalities and widespread destruction, with hundreds feared dead. In India, a landslide in Manipur state injured at least one hundred people.
Flooding: Heavy rainfall and floods have caused widespread damage and loss of life in Pakistan, India, and China. China has experienced peak water levels in 330 rivers, while Pakistan and India have seen extensive flooding due to sudden, intense rainfall. In Europe, floods have caused significant damage in Germany and Belgium, leading to numerous deaths and widespread displacement.
Wildfires: Wildfires are severely impacting Southern Europe, with Spain experiencing some of the worst conditions in recent history. Wildfires are also affecting other parts of Europe, with France experiencing its worst wildfire season in 75 years.
Tropical Cyclones: Two tropical depressions have formed in the West Pacific basin, with one, TD-17W, projected to make landfall in northeastern Vietnam.
Other Notable Events: A powerful earthquake in Russia has triggered tsunami warnings across the Pacific. Flash floods have also affected Jordan and Algeria, causing fatalities.
“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.” Romans 8:19
In essence, Romans 8:19 suggests that the entire created order is excited for a future time when God’s children will be fully revealed in their glorified state, signifying a restoration of all things. This verse is often linked to the idea that creation itself is groaning under the effects of sin and awaits liberation along with the children of God
China Floods Continue to Devastate
The recent rise of floodwaters across the globe is a powerful sign. While they are a result of natural forces, they also serve as a stark illustration of biblical prophecy—a sign that Christ’s return is closer than we think. Just as people in Noah’s time carried on with their lives, ignoring the warnings until the flood came, many today will overlook these signs until it is too late.
37 “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Matthew 24:37-39:
Since June 2025, China has experienced severe flooding across multiple regions, particularly in the north, as a result of heavy and persistent rainfall. These events have led to significant casualties, widespread destruction, and emergency responses from the government.
Wildfires Rage Through Europe
The sun-drenched landscapes of Southern Europe are now ablaze, a crisis unfolding as relentless wildfires tear through Greece, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, and Albania. These fires, fuelled by brutal heatwaves and fierce winds, have wreaked havoc on the landscape. In Patras, Greece’s third-largest city, flames have swallowed homes, forests, and cars, forcing mass evacuations that included children from hospitals. At least three people have perished across the region, with entire villages reduced to ash. Day and night, exhausted firefighting crews battle the inferno, their tireless efforts a testament to the scale of the disaster.
As temperatures soar between 38°C and 45°C, this year marks one of Europe’s most destructive wildfire seasons on record, a grim testament to the mounting crisis. While the European Union dispatches emergency aid, experts issue a grave warning: climate change is intensifying these catastrophes, making them both more frequent and more ferocious. As a Bible scholar I do not agree with the EU stance on climate change. The global average temperature was about 1.2° Celsius above the pre-industrial (1850-1900) level. The six years since 2015 have been the warmest on record, with 2011-2020 the warmest decade on record.
“He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.” Psalm 135:7
Landslide Engulfs Dharali Village
In the northern state of Uttarakhand, a huge cloudburst triggered flash floods, which tragically washed away the Indian village.
The harrowing scene captured by local broadcasters is one of pure terror: a massive wall of floodwater roaring through the Himalayan village of Dharali. The frantic screams of residents fill the air, their fear palpable as they watch the torrent consume their homes and livelihoods.
In response to the devastation, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that rescue agencies are operating “on a war footing”. He reassured the public in a statement, “We are doing everything possible to save lives and provide relief.” The urgency of the situation underscores the immense danger faced by the community.
